Welcome to my Mega Blog! The current outlet for all of the gaming thoughts as they spill out of my mind and onto the world wide web!
For those that don't know me, hello!
My name is Daniel Driver, a videogame fanatic and, more specifically, an absolute Sega obsessive. Of course that love for all things Sega lead to me adding "The Mega" between my first and last names. Dan "The Mega" Driver is a moniker I carry with me through social media and that may be more memorable to anyone that listened to the SegaGuys Podcast.
Yes, the SegaGuys Podcast (or SegaGuys Retropod) was a passion project between myself and my good friend James The SegaHolic, and we had an excellent two years where we chatted Sega and spoke to some legends in the industry such as Tom Kalinske and Al Nilsen, being humbled as we garnered thousands of downloads and gaining a slot on RadioSega.
Unfortunately, real life commitments had taken their toll and, with a heavy heart, James and I had to put the show on an indefinite hiatus. Hopefully, when normality resumes, we could return to the airwaves, but for now, you can access our back catalogue wherever you find your podcasts, or at the RadioSega archives.
With the SegaGuys on pause, I need a creative outlet.
Thankfully, inspiration was not far away. You see, one of my other passions is writing, having had features on The Metro's GameCentral, GameTripper and of course the SegaGuys blog, I've not been afraid to put my views to paper (or webpage).
I've also had to absolute privilege to write for the Dreamcast Years Magazine with James, and for the amazing [lock-on] 003. Seeing my name amongst so many legends in the gaming community galvanised me into creating this blog.
With so much going on in the industry today, thoughts are swirling around my head, and hopefully I'll be able to deliver a Sega slanted view on things such as the recent rounds of acquisitions by Sony and Microsoft. After all, while the world changes, so many events still seems to echo those further back in time.
Here on my Mega Blog (got to maintain that "Mega" 90s feel) I can explore topics and events that may have been out of place in my previous outlets, it's something I can dip in whenever my non-gaming life allows and where I'll be quintessentially me!
Meanwhile, I'm still active on Twitter when I can be and this year I've been sharing my daily Sega games. I'm closing in on game number 50 at the time of writing and am well on my way to sharing 365 Sega games this year.
You can catch me on twitter as @swooper_d, and as this blog evolves, I hope you'll join me on the next part of this journey.
Dan
